Jeff King

Jeff is an exciting tenor player who is capturing the jazz world with his fresh approach. He has studied with Frank Foster, Sonny Redd, Billy Mitchel and majored in the Jazz program at Queens College. He has recorded and performed with, Richard Davis, Mike Maneri, Laura Nyro, Abdullah Ibrahim Dollar Brand, Craig Harris,TK Blue, Albert Dailey, John Hicks Reggie Workman, Renee McClean and Duane Eubanks just to name a few.

The current version of the band brings to the fore all that is good about Jazz sextet, swinging hard with great new arrangements and originals.

Jeff King is sure and confident of the music he plays and the direction it’s headed! “ Just Jazz” Jeff is from Brooklyn and as Artistic Director of the CBJC He is a champion of “The Brooklyn Sound” and what he calls “New Jazz Standards”

As leader of The Jeff King Band and Musical director of the CBJ All Star band Jeff continues to dig deep and explore the legacy of jazz music. He has been called a master by his contemporaries in finding and selecting music that captures the essential spirit of Jazz. At this present time Jeff is working on his second CD as a leader. He has also developed an audio, and visual concept entitled “Jazzart” that has been funded by the Brooklyn Arts Council and The Fulton Street Art fair.

Jeff performs with some of New York’s great Jazz artists, Craig Harris, Duane Eubanks, Yoichi Uzeki all who have impeccable reputations as contemporary Jazz giants. The band members are chosen for their uniqueness, versatility and their ability to swing. Jeff is a Brooklyn Arts Council Regrant Awardee and has toured the U.S., Europe, Africa, Canada and Australia.

He has performed with Reggie Workman, Candido, John Hicks, Louis Hayes, Albert Dailey, Laura Nyro, Richard Davis, TK Blue, Vanessa Rubin, Gregory Porter, Charene Wade, Carlos Ward and Carlos Garnett and has performed at The North Sea Jazz Festival, Pori Jazz The Helsinki Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Seattle Opera House, Village Vanguard, Blue Note and Birdland just to name a few.
